After a long flight, we’ve finally arrived in Mumbai, and all is well. Okay, to be fair, we’ve only been to the airport and our hotel, but we’re enjoying the climate and the hospitality of the locals.
We’ve been a little worried the past week that things here would be out of control and that we’d be pulling our hair out after a couple days. That may still be the case, but so far no need for concern. It’s just like Thailand, Indonesia or Bali, expect everyone here speaks English.
Funny story. We’re staying at a nice hotel with very attentive staff, so we were not surprised when they gave us a floral arrangement when we checked in… but we were surprised that it was all wrapped up in a garbage bag. Don’t get me wrong, I love a flower arrangement as much as the next guy, but why they gave it to us in a garbage bag was a bit odd. I said to them, “It’s ok, we don’t need it, you keep it”, but they insisted we carry it up, saying “It’s yours, please take it”.
I was on the verge of saying “why don’t you bring it up and take it out of the garbage bag for us” when my manners kicked in and I said thank-you and we lugged it upstairs. We unwrapped it and were slightly embarrassed to find that it wasn’t from the hotel, but our Doctors from the Surrogacy Clinic wishing us a warm welcome to Mumbai. Now that explains it!
